Hey guys- This site is awesome!

A little bit about my story. I am 20 y.o. and I have been losing my hair since I have been 17. I tried propecia, bought a hairmax comb and a couple of other things all of which were bad ideas. I found out about OMG, JDP, IH, Hapyman, Nid, and Joe and my hairloss worries are completely over. Thank you to all of these people for helping me out in messages or phone calls.

Before I ran into these guys, I was completely hopeless. I thought that there was not a chance for me to ever stop my hairloss bc I started to lose it so early and it was so aggressive. It honestly put me in depression and panic. I was searching in all the wrong places for the answers. All people ever told me on other sites was that I had to take propecia. But I was not going to do that to my body, I could feel that it was poison when I took it. Then I found OMG on regrowth and from there, everything changed.

Here is what works for me.

My 300 diode laser messiah completely stopped my hairloss along with the use of clay, and mag oil. I got pretty good regrowth and overall thickening as well.

I then started reading IH site and wanted to see if I could improve my overall health bc even though I figured out my hairloss issue, I still suffered from other health problems.

From his site, I figured out that I was hypothyroid. At this point I stopped using my helmet and just started taking iodine and did a salt water protocol to flush out bromine. To my surprise, this was continued to keep my hairloss at a halt!!! I never get an oily scalp like I would use to. I even went to a doctor for my thyroid and he said I was fine. The best way to test it is with the barnes basal test. I am even starting to see some regrowth from just iodine! I am just truly amazed that I have found the answers to my hairloss problem bc I honestly thought I would NEVER stop my hairloss. I feel like I have complete control over my life and my health. Confidence is now through the roof and I am feeling much more energized.

Thank you omg, jdp, nid, Ih, hapyman, and joe. you guys are all awesome!

Wow man, that’s one heckuva testimonial and compliment…thanks 1…!

Now, you said that you stopped using your helmet—have you resumed again?  Did you just want to stop while you were experimenting with Iodine?

Hi 1. Very nice of you to post those things about our little group here. Out of curiosity did you have your thyroid checked prior to treating it yourself?

Nid- I plan on using the helmet bc I bet I can get more regrowth. The helmet gives my hair alot of volume which is so nice bc I have naturally thin hair.

Joe- I got my TSH levels checked by a doctor and it was 1.9 which according to Dr. Mercola is considered hypothyroid. I began self treating myself and my energy went up so quickly. My cold body temp also improved which was very nice.

I have not gotten it checked again. From what I understand, the test isn’t very reliable so I don’t really see the point of going back in to get it checked.

It would be an interesting and valuable number to have as it would allow us all to evaluate the effectiveness of your regimen. As far as the test being inaccurate or inconclusive, you could say that about almost any test. But I do understand not getting it retested. I hate going to a doctor for anything.

In my opinion, you thinking that your “hairloss worries are completely over” is a huge mistake.  Your hairloss worries will never be over.  Remaining proactive in preserving the integrity of your follicles should be just as important in the future as trying regrow hair is to you today.  If you stay on top of things, you may fare better than most of us.

If I only knew then what I know now…

hey 1…..

Once the iodine has got your thyroid working back in order. Can you stop the iodine treatment or do you have to constantly take a maintenance dose to keep the thyroid in check?

How often did you use your laser helmet per week? same question for the clay and mag oil please.

The notion that iodine is harmful to the thyroid is an outdated belief, unfortunately still very much embraced by the medical community.

Iodine is extremely safe, and that includes Hashimoto’s disease, which accounts for over 90% of hypothyroid patients.

The safety of iodine can be found here: http://iodine4health.com/research/anguiano_2007_uptake_gene_expression.pdf

“In the present work we demonstrate that uptake and metabolism of iodine differ in an organ-specific manner and also depend on the chemical form of the iodine ingested (potassium iodide vs. I2). Further, we show that a moderately high I2 supplement (0.05%) causes some of the characteristics of the ‘‘acute Wolff-Chaikoff effect’’; namely, it lowers expression of the sodium=iodide symporter, pendrin, thyroperoxidase (TPO), and deiodinase type 1 in thyroid gland without diminishing circulating levels of thyroid hormone.

Finally, we confirm that I2 metabolism is independent of TPO, and we demonstrate that, at the doses used here, which are potentially useful to treat mammary tumors, chronic I2 supplement is not accompanied by any harmful secondary effects on the thyroid or general physiology.”

Iodine is a vital nutrient however, it’s not one that our body can tolerate extra of.  Too much iodine can cause an overproduction of hormones and lead to hyperthyroidism - Graves Disease. The amount of iodine needed per days is
150 mcg. and it is said that we get enough iodine in salt , seafood, and fast foods. If you do decide you need more iodine in your diet it is better to eat more food with iodine in it than taking an iodine supplement.  A 1/4 teaspoon of iodized table salt provides 95 micrograms of iodine. A 6-ounce portion of ocean fish provides 650 micrograms of iodine. Most people are able to meet the daily recommendations by eating seafood, iodized salt, and plants grown in iodine-rich soil. When buying salt make sure it is labeled “iodized.”

There is no test that can reliably diagnose iodine deficiency in individual patients is available.  The below test I mention below only tells you about iodine in the body but it doesn’t relate to thyroid conditions in which only blood test can relate, such as a T4/T3 conversion problem.  Nor will they relate to what is causing iodine deficiency.  Without an iodine deficiency, iodine supplementation can be dangerous.

I do recommend to have thyroid levels done by the doctor and a Lab.  It is difficult to maintain a thyroid’s stability without the help of a professional. You can choose a physician or a holistic practitioner. However, you should have someone monitoring you who is qualified to do so and you should let them know which supplements you take, how much of each you take and how often you take them (daily, weekly, etc). In some cases, certain supplements can interact with your thyroid hormones and/or other medications, so it’s very important that your health care team know about them.

I don’t advise the below to be a 100% but, this is a test that can at least ballpark the situation.

You can test your thyroid for free at home by painting some Iodine on your skin, about 1 1/2 ” in diameter,  a place on the skin it won’t rub off or touch clothing. If it lasts less than 24 hours, your thyroid is deficient in Iodine. Do it again with treatment, every day, until it DOES last 24 hours, and then monitor about once a month.

Do a urine iodine test:. You take 3 Iodoral tablets (37.5 mg) on the first morning, throw out that morning’s first urine, and then collect all urine for 24 hours. Then a sample is tested for iodine. If your body has enough iodine, you should have excreted 90% of what you ingested.  This comes in kits.

If you take too much iodine, the result can produce graves disease.

where do you get clay and mag oil?

I’m a newbie and I need a someone that I can respect to give me the goods. Ideally natural, but not overkill, because I don’t want to put propecia in my body again. I am a blood donor and would rather save peoples’ lives than enjoy vanity

Thanks!

Iodine does not cause Grave’s disease or exacerbate Hashimoto’s disease. This is a current myth that most of the medical community believe, yet it is not true.

All the body’s tissues benefit from iodine. A full 1500 milligrams is how much the body actually needs for optimal health. Once the thyroid obtains 50 milligrams of it, then the rest of the body can use it.

I have members on my forum who have taken doses up to one gram per day (1,000 mg) and the discoverer of Vitamin C, Albert Szent-Gyorgyi had taken a gram of iodine per day along with vitamin C.

A lot of doctors have been scared straight from taking what they need the most. The dogma began with erroneous research, which thyroidologists would cite the Wolff-Chaikoff effect and warn that TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) blood levels can rise with an iodine intake of a milligram or more. The Wolff-Chaikoff effect is a temporary inhibition of thyroid hormone synthesis that supposedly occurs with increased iodine intake, but this is of no clinical significance.

This means that no signs or symptoms of hypothyroidism accompany its rise. Some people taking milligram doses of iodine, usually more than 50 mg a day, develop mild swelling of the thyroid gland without symptoms. The vast majority of people, 98 to 99 percent, can take iodine in doses ranging from 10 to 200 mg a day without any clinical adverse effects on thyroid function. The prevalence of thyroid diseases in the 127 million people in Japan who consume high amounts of iodine is not much different than that in the U.S.

If concerned about an iodine (excess), which is quite rare, there is an iodine loading test. If one reaches 90% excretion they will have enough, but this again, is very rare.

Hashimoto’s & Graves are treated with Iodine (in large amounts) to normalize thyroid hormone levels.

Dr. David Brownstein has stated that among his Hashimoto’s patients they were all remarkably low in iodine and were thus treated with iodine to recovery from it. Essentially, his clinical results on patients are the exact opposite of what the texts say will happen. Also for what it is worth I have recommended iodine to at least three with diagnosed Hashimoto’s disease and there have been absolutely no problems. I will add that Selenium is an important component, that should be used.

If one had initial problems with iodine, it is often a sign of bromide toxicity, which can be remedied by temporarily backing off iodine, and performing salt loading along with vitamin C, then follow up with iodine and build up on those levels.
