July 13, 2010, 04:10 PM So I’ve been using the Laser MEssiah since August 09, but I only used it for the full 20 minute sesions for about 2 months and then started going down to 15 minutes, and then eventually 10-12. For about a month I was doing a 10 minute session one day, and a 5 the next. And back and forth. I just decided that I’m going to go back to doing close to the full 20 min sessions every other day again because of everything I’ve read from OMG. The science just convinces me not to keep doing what I’m doing. I had a dry scalp problem back when I started and although I lasered with a wet scalp I had some slighly painful spots after a session and shed a decent amount. I just didn’t FEEL it was best to be doing long sessions at that time. Now I still seem to have some dry scalp issues, but I’m doing a lot more oils (although they don’t seem to help too much. Olive and coconut) and I decided to bump it up. I went for 15 min 3 days ago and yesterday I did 18 minutes. I felt the pump I felt when I first started, but now I’m shedding more than I have in a while. Could this be because I haven’t been getting enough stimulation this whole time?? And do sheds come and go in cycles with LLLT? I go through the same thing with minox, but I was starting to think it was because it builds up on my scalp and causes dandruff and in turn inflammation I guess. |

[ # 3 ] July 17, 2010, 04:15 PM Thanks to OMG’s laser messiah, my hair grew, thickened and darkened for first 6 months, shed lasted only 5 - 7 days - wrote to OMG to confirm all that at the 6 month point - but I could not get regrowth on frontal hair line, but kept it (well, almost). Now mid summer 1.5 months later on (having been in moldy house - sh*T) does feel like it thinned out some of the growth on top, still looks good, but I’m PISSED as I know I’ve lost about 25% and have been screwing up. But I grew it all back there once before, as hairdresser said “hmmn, would not call it thinning on top” in August 2009 (which politely means yes you are are!), then March 2010 - she thought I was joking when I asked if I was thinning on top. Bushy. Today shed like crazy after lasering but I had that slight sensation of an itchy feeling on crown before doing the laser. Bad move… should have left it for today. Last month has been a nightmare, so moving out of moldy house. Here’s my feeling following on from jdp70’s coments - if you have high scalp DHT going into a Laser session it could be less than helpful. But is that slight (not the intense) itchy feeling DHT or mcirobial or inflammation? BTW - anyone get any comments on the effect of moldy, humid environment on summer shed/ growth. Anyone else in Florida ? Some experts think that is less than a optimum environment for hair growth Thanks all… |

[ # 4 ] July 19, 2010, 11:06 AM Well for me, my shed happened about 1 1/2-2 months in and now its returned and its the beginning of month 5 but I don’t really mind since the little vellus hairs that grew in at my hairline could not have developed or grown into anything aesthetically pleasing. Yes I’m shedding like crazy but I’m losing a lot off these vellus hairs and small dark hairs are growing in their place. They look like pepper dots right now, but there’s a lot so I have great faith! You have to look close to see them and it looks like I’m thinning but I do not believe that’s the case. In all honesty I’d rather have these then a temporal area full of weak hairs doomed to die. Besides, I might have to shed these new and promising small black hairs too before I get strong terminal hairs. Who knows? All I know is maybe my hair takes longer to cycle, maybe I had weaker hairs than normal, maybe I caught my hair loss at an awkward time and that’s the reason for the on-off sheddng, or maybe I’m making leaps and bounds in my hair loss by shedding so much in such a short period of time with quite honestly not much difference in hair quality. My hair actually looks and feels great apart from the shedding and temple areas where the little hairs are. BUT only time will tell. By February I hope to look in the mirror and applaud myself for sticking through it! Here’s a great link to sheddding although it stresses minox use etc just substitute your treatment with it if you’re experiencing shedding |
