Now lately that I’ve been using my messiah for almost 6 months now, I do not get the same laser “pump” or that contracting feeling on my scalp DURING use (I’m pretty sure you guys know what Im talking about), but I do feel “that feeling” after I take it off. By “that feeling”, I mean that energized scalp-feel-good feeling.

Im not sure what this means but I heard that LLLT actually exercises your scalp muscles and maybe mine has just become accustomed to the 15-20 minute exercises. Is this ok? Am I just reaping the benefits of the photo bio-stimulation now? I mean I still feel a slight “pump”, just not as profound as before.

Thanks!

Hey, BaldbeGone!

Yep, same story here… it does very much seem like the muscles get “built up” a little so you don’t quite feel the same pump/DOMS soreness after you are a long term user, but it’s still working!  Man, I remember when I used to be outright sore as hell!  I still feel it, but not to that point anymore.

So, hell yes… you’re still getting the same benefits, you’re just developing your muscles a bit.  If you went on a trip and couldn’t use it a few weeks (or if you upgraded the number of diodes or something), you’d be really sore again when you started back!  At least that’s what I’ve found… it doesn’t take long for you to lose what you’ve “built up”.

Now, at the risk of completely contradicting myself, it very well could be GOOD to take a week or two off every now and again to “keep it fresh” when you start back.  I don’t know for sure either way, though, and I don’t know if this is something that we’re ever really going to know.  The fact is, most people are going to have periods every few months where they probably won’t be able to use the helmet for a week or so, so that “break” is going to happen whether it’s planned or not -so you don’t have a choice!

Anyway, if you have to go on a trip or something, let us know if you feel it really strongly again when you get back to it.  Some weeks I just have more of a feeling than others for no perceivable reason, too.

Hi there
I’ve been a proud owner of a Laser Messiah 415 for one year. I used to post at a french forum but there are almost no laser users there so will share my experience here now.
On damp hair I always feel the pump between the 15th and 20th minute.
On dry hair I always feel the pump between the 10th and 15th minute.
So it seems to depend on some particular conditions.
It may be that you’re one of those users that needs 25 minutes of lasering. Of course I’m not qualified to give you this kind of advice that might lead to overstimulation, but just out of curiosity I would try once to leave the helmet 25 minutes “to see”.

Interesting feedback lp69.  I should also add that when I went to a clinic before laser helmets existed, I always had a dry scalp and I *always* felt the pump.  The sessions were 20 minutes, and I did get results.  Up to folks to experiment a bit and figure out what is best for them, as every individual varies.

These days, sometimes I get a pump, but usually not.  Still have that energized scalp feeling though that you mentioned!

I have to admit I myself don’t feel a “pump” effect. I get the warmth of course and slightly energised yet relaxed scalp feel (if that make any sense!). However I do have a really shoddy home made 70diode, 3 position movable get up. Could well be my set up is a bit sub-optimal.

Is the “pump” feeling a consistent, standard marker of effective/optimal LLT?
Thanks

I myself do not feel anything like that, and I’ve got the 300 diodes version. Yet I know it’s working, because of how the itchiness is gone and my hair looks better than before despite some massive shedding last month (no regrowth yet but I’m only at 2 months)
So I’d say it really doesn’t matter

I, too, have the 300 diode Messiah, and I find that the “pump” is more noticeable for me if my scalp is damp. I also use the polysorbate 80 before I shower, so I don’t know if that has any effect on making the laser session’s “pump” sensation more apparent or not.

I am getting close to my 3rd month on LLLT, and I have noticed that that that energized sensation on my head is a bit less obvious than it was during the first month. That being said, I also noted that if I take 2 days off between sessions instead of 1, that “pumping” sensation is more pronounced for me.

Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb!
