Its hard to find ethanol here in Canada. I know people have been using vodka in zix formulas, but I’m not sure for prelaser. I would like try the exact mixture that OMG is using since we already know it works for him.

But in case I can’t find ethanol (90 or 95%...can’t remember conc. right now)....Has anyone tried rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) as an ethanol substitute or would that not achieve the desired effect for the pre-laser topical?

Hey Bear!

Zix gives the nix on using Isopropyl Alchohol. Click the link for the thread… it’s because of lack of data..

Exactly peachfuzz. We have no way of knowing anything about Isopropyl alcohol. That said I’ve had plenty of Canadians that have located ethyl alcohol in pharmacies. Sometimes the labels look so identicle to the isopropyl that you assume they don’t have it even though it’s sitting right aside of the Isopropyl alcohol. Call a couple of local pharmaicies and ask them if they have it on hand. If you still can’t find it we can come up with a formula using vodka for you. It still will work out to be pretty cheap.

Yea all the more reason why we use Ethyl alcohol. We use it because it is really a more natural penetrant and preservative.

Finally I could find some ethyl alcohol for the mix. But I would like to know the dosis I have to make for it.
For ethyl alcohol 90% should I have to do 50% Poly80 + 50% Alcohol
or…
Should I have to mix 90% alcohol with distilled water ?

Why not just use some cheap russian vodka?  That is what I use instead of the poisoned alcohol they sell at pharmacies.

Oh, ok.  It still may not be bad.  I don’t do the Poly stuff, so I can’t say.  I just use vodka instead of rubbing alcohol for general cleaning purposes and not for my scalp.
