I went against what I said I would never do…i ordered minox the other day…it’s not that I’m losing my hair again…between lasers, folligen, small dosages of propecia and the rest of my regimen my hair loss has stopped completely…which I guess is a win.

But I haven’t had any noticeable regrowth…my hair looks better, but I don’t seem to have any more of it.  That’s why I broke down the other day and ordered Promox from Dr. Klein…it’s minox, tretinoin, azeliec acid, progesterone, and finestrade all in one spray bottle…i ordered a 4 month supply and I’m coupling that with a 4 month supply of a vitamin I found called Hair Essentials…

http://www.naturalwellbeing.com/products/hair-growth#ingredients

I figure if those additions along with the rest of my regimen don’t grow any more hair in the next 4 months for me, then nothing is going to….it’s my hail mary approach….if it doesn’t work, I’m going to give up on trying to regrow hair and just focus on maintaining what I have and start saving up for a transplant to cover the rest.

I know you guys are not in favor of minox….but I’ve never really given it a fair shot….and I like the science behind the promox formula.

In time I’ll post a before and after picture of this 4 month experiment.

After 5 months of nothing, my new regimen as of mid December 2011 is below:

1.  Rejuveplex: 1.5 droppers at night
2.  Super Zix II once a day
3.  20-30 min LLLT 3x a week
4. Decalcify (2-3 capsules per day)

monthly cost:  Approx. $50

Results:  stable hair density, no itch, but no noticeable regr

Regrowth is one of the hardest things you can do!  Minox may not give it to you and may make situation worse or thinner hair IMO/IME.

Try 4 of these per day instead http://www.iherb.com/Natural-Factors-Celery-Seed-Extract-60-Capsules/2710?at=0

I had my final “moment of weakness” in 2006, and my hair was still paying for it halfway through 2007.  I suppose I should thank minox because forced me to find out the “secrets” of LLLT.

I hope you fare a lot better than I did!  Good luck!

...and to echo what JDP said, “regrowth” with anything is difficult -and the problems preventing regrowth on your head aren’t anything that something like minox would help.  Certainly not in the long term.

thanks for the advice and encouragement guys…

jdp…does that really grow hair for you?  I can see how it might improve health and even slow or stop MPB, but you’re saying it actually grew hair?

A1….I probably should add more lasers, but that’s not really my thing. That’s why I bought a unit instead of making one.  Even if i did, i could probably only fit 20-40 more which probably wouldn’t be that much more powerful than how it is now…but thanks for the input.

what I like about the promox formula is the combination of ingredients…in theory it attacks and treats mpb in different ways, which should make it more effective than plain minox…we’ll see in january I guess

mj, good luck. Be interested to see how you go. I’m taking a similar vitamin supplement. That one sure looks packed with everything but the kitchen sink.

One thing I have looked into is how herbs lose their effectiveness if not cycled. Cycling on and off keeps the body guessing and you are less inclined to build a tolerance over the weeks and months of taking specific herbs and\or supplements.

Be interested to hear other thoughts on this. For me it explains why Saw P was fairly effective and then over time much less effective.

Hard to say if it regrows hair.  Certainly worked a million times better than minox ever did IME.  Should work in a similiar manner as minoxidil——> aldosterone.  There have been a couple others on IH’s forum in the past that have tried celery seed extract and reported positives… can’t say about regrowth though.

Minoxodil is only heavily pushed on the other two big forums because of the shills (forum members pretending to be average forum posters but are in fact selling a product) IMO.  OMG can tell you some good stories and how the mods look the other way.

Also, the only reason why some choose minoxidil is because some want a track record but they don’t realize it’s at the expense of effectivness.  For example, many people still talk about Nizoral but there are much much better products than Nizoral available.  Only difference is Nizoral is an OK product whereas minoxidil can be a disaster and at best delaying the inevitable.

Anyhow, my preference would be to fix aldosterone by other means such as all the reasons for a potassium deficiency which can get lengthy.  For those looking for a quick fix that minoxidil may or may not give, celery seed extract in the above brand and dosage would be tops for similiar mechanism.  A good topical magnesium chloride and/or potassium chloride at seperate times rubbed in hair would be better if looking for a topical IME/IMO.

Celery seed extract is awesome—it always eliminates scalp itch right away for me.

Hey jdp, what are better alternatives to Nizoral?

Topicals are an individual preference but would recommend to experiment and see which you prefer.

From an antimicrobial point of view, full strength grapefruit seed extract, coconut oil, lithium/dmso, lysine mixed with touch of water, french green clay/bentonite clay,

Some have used collodial silver which may be worth looking into but haven’t tried myself as I have no need to be here anymore… would have no idea if it worked.

Would also mention to beware of most shampoo and conditioners out there.  Himalaya is good though.

hope this helps

Which do you think would actually be better, ecklonia cava at 2 caps per day or celery seed extract at 4 caps? They would cost about the same monthly.
