February 14, 2010, 04:53 PM Got my laser messiah and have used it three times already…hair definitely puffs up from use. I’m unsure if thats from the light heat emanating from the lasers or from any potential benefits the follicles are getting. Im staying positive though. Great design OMG! Looks very futuristic like Im going to travel through dimesions when I plug that badboy in! lol I am a NW2-I think less though (I caught it early). I have dirty blonde hair ( I heard hair color matters in treatment times) I know 3x 20 minutes a week is the protocol
The reason I ask is because sometimes I am away for school and stay at a friends house or I go away and I might not get to use the messiah Mon,Wed,Fri like I normally would.

[ # 1 ] February 14, 2010, 07:19 PM BBG, I am not as learned on the subject as I should be. But from my limited knowledge of biology (and radiation biology) I do not believe you can get away with altering the times too much. This all has to do with the amount of energy deposition on your scalp. Without getting too much into the details, the laser is emanated in the form of photons at a certain wavelength (~650nm). The wavelength determines how deep something penetrates. For laser, hopefully it penetrates as deep as the follicle, or there would be no observed effect. Energy deposition is usually measured in fluence, which is the time integrated flux. In other words, it is the amount of energy deposited per unit area. I don’t have the numbers off hand, but apparently there is a range when a favourable biological response occurs with regards to lasers. I think it is something between 2 - 6 J/cm^2. I guess this fluence can be calculated by knowing the output of the lasers, the number of lasers, and the area covered by the lasers. I believe OMG has calculated that the optimal fluence ranges occurs at about 20 minutes. Now if you do not get enough dose, you might not cross the energy threshold to observe noticeable changes. If you expose yourself too much, you might end up negating the positive biological effects. The analogy I will use is with coffee. You can have a cup of coffee per day and you’ll be “normal”. But you cannot drink 7 cups of coffee in one day and be good for the week. You will be off the wall for one day and there will be no observed effect for the other 6 days. As for the clay… i don’t know anything about that. Someone else will have to fill you in :D Hopefully I have provided insight, Take care PP |

[ # 2 ] February 14, 2010, 10:42 PM PP— Fantastic reply, I’d just like to add that I recommend treatment times of 15 to 20 minutes, varying. BaldBeGone— I use Scalpure clay before every session. I usually get my hair wet, throw it on for 40 to 50 minutes, take a shower, throw some Magnesium Oil on, then laser. It’s best not to go over 20 minutes to avoid the risk of overstimulation, which will hurt results. |

[ # 3 ] February 20, 2010, 01:43 AM Alright looks like Ill just have to carry it with me wherever I go. So far I have used Calcium Bentonite clay with Apple Cider vinegar before every treatment time but I’ve been doing it for 20minutes on Friday nite and 20minutes on Sunday nite. SO i think I’ll switch to the Mon Wed Fri routine. The Mag Oil I just apply after each shower under my armpits regardless of when I laser everyday. Maybe I should apply a little extra around the time I laser as well. Right now I take the GreenTea Extract/Taurine/Zinc combo-Mag oil-and LLLT cant wait to see my hair in 3months! |

[ # 5 ] February 21, 2010, 01:35 AM BBG and Nidhogge, I’m looking for some solid topicals to add to my regimen. I’m gonna need some deets about where to get some stuff, how i can make it, costs, results that you’ve seen etc. Sorry, I haven’t been reading too much on the site due to a lack of time. Maybe someone can pass me a thread on the goods. |

[ # 6 ] February 23, 2010, 03:23 AM Hey Nid, do you know what month results are typical for LLLT? |

[ # 7 ] February 23, 2010, 09:38 PM Also, is shedding noticeable within the first months of LLLT? And why do you recommend 15-20 minutes varying? |
