[ # 2 ] March 14, 2010, 01:12 AM Hey, Chrome Dome… I’ll have the clay video done soon where I go into a lot of that. I’ve had a few setbacks with my home setup/studio and whatnot, but they should be resolved soon and I can finally get some of the long overdue videos in the can. But yeah, though… I think most are pretty much the same thing. Sure, some may technically be better, but for the purposes we are all using it for -which is removing excess sebum/oil from the skin, follicles, and pores- I think they would all behave similarly. Montmorillonite is sometimes used interchangeably with bentonite clay in products, by the way. It’s confusing sometimes with the way bentonite clay is classified because it has such a wide range of definitions/consistencies. Bentonite actually consists partially of varying amounts of montmorillonite, or something like that. All I know is this… each product claims to have it’s own “magic clay” that is better than all of the others. Much like the “magic diode” argument… I’m not buying it. -O.M.G. |

[ # 3 ] March 14, 2010, 11:43 AM I use pascalite clay, and while Im not entirely sure that its better than any other clay powders you can grab ahold of, I do like it much more than Scalpure. I cant be entirely sure, but my current pascalite mix seems to go on much more evenly and easily than Scalpure did, and it dries more uniformly (over 4 or 5 months of claying, Ive come top realize that some degree of drying definitely makes for less oil on the scalp). Whether or not this is something exclusive to the kind of clay Im using I dont know, but considering its only a few bucks more than bentonite clay, its not like Im fronting much money on the risk. |

[ # 4 ] March 14, 2010, 09:14 PM FYI, Funky and others… Both JDP and I noticed that when our scalps got really dry from clay, our laser stimulation WENT DOWN! We felt like the energy just wasn’t penetrating -even with a ‘damp” scalp. So, I don’t use the clay as ofter as I did now. I think there is a point that you can do TOO MUCH with the clay in which it becomes a bit counter productive. I started throwing polysorbate 80 back into the mix -it essentially does the same thing, but is a little less drying- and I added some polysorbate 60 to it, too (which I don’t think makes any real difference). I now use it more than I do the clay -but I still try to use the clay at least once a week. -O.M.G. |

[ # 5 ] March 15, 2010, 11:15 PM I mixed my clay with some olive oil so that it wouldn’t dry out my hair and scalp…have no idea if this is bad for lllt, but it definitely makes my hair softer |

[ # 6 ] March 16, 2010, 11:03 AM Olive oil is probably a great idea -and even better for me because I actually HAVE SOME that I’m not using! I originally bought it to try as a “pre laser” topical -meaning a topical to be used to enhance the penetration of lasers. It didn’t work well for that in my opinion, but I only tried it once and I got less stimulation. Of course, I slathered it all over my head so you might have expected that to happen! But using it in a clay would probably be great! When the clay is washed out, I would expect that there wouldn’t be a significant, laser-blocking amount left. I’ll have to try that soon. -O.M.G. |

[ # 7 ] April 04, 2010, 06:01 PM I have a few questions regarding the use of Bentonite clay. If I was to use it in conjunction with ACV then what would be the ratio? Also could or should I add anything else to the mixture? And how long should I leave the mixture on? I plan on using this and then lasering my hair. Would emu oil be good to use topically when using a laser? Thanks |

[ # 8 ] April 04, 2010, 06:53 PM Jmoss, Here is the recipe I follow minus the Jojoba, Peppermint and Grapfruit Seed Extract that I add to . Got it off Hapyman and this kind of mimicks the scalpure formula. : “ Optional: Instructions: Add ACV water and oils. Stir it up really good using a wooden or plastic utensil. NO METAL!!! Let sit for 24 to 48 hours while coming back to stir it up every so often. The more often you stir the quicker it melds together. Basically do this until there are no longer any clumps. You can make a larger batch then this just double the measurements. This amount is about 4-5 applications for me but your mileage will vary based upon how far you spread it and how thick you put it on. ” - Hapyman |
